Even though the EBT machine will not be at the market, it will be accepting tokens that were not used at the earlier markets. The EBT machine will be back at the Winter Farmers Market October 31 inside Timeless Treasure Antique Mall on October 30 from 10am to 1pm.
The Pumpkin Decorating Contest had 13 wonderful pumpkins turned in. The kids did a Great job, 4 in the 0-5 age group and 9 in the 6 and up group. These pumpkins are divided up between the downtown business, Forever Toys, Aurora Books, Timeless Treasures Antique Mall, and the Flower Gallery. So with a week and a half left be sure to cast your vote for your favorite pumpkin. Each store has a voting jar and Voting is once a day from now until October 28 at noon, at which the votes will be counted and the winners announced before the Trick and Treating begins at 3pm that day.

Hidden Forest Trail Run and Walk in Clarkston
Oakland County Parks and Recreation and the Riverbend Striders host the Hidden Forest Trail Run and Walk at Independence Oaks County Park on Sunday, Oct. 10. Races include a 2.5-mile run and walk, 5.5-mile run and 8.5-mile run. “The race course cuts through hardwood forests on wood chip trails, making it a great place to race during the fall season,” Race Coordinator John Gault said. Early registration is $17/person and includes a long-sleeve shirt; or $8/person without the shirt. Early registration ends Oct. 3. Late registration is $20/person with a long-sleeve shirt; or $10/person without the shirt. Shirts cannot be guaranteed to those who register on race day. Race day registration begins at 8 a.m. All races start at 9:30 a.m. at the Twin Chimneys Pavilion. Awards are presented in respective age groups. Tweet & Taste Michigan allows Michigan wine lovers to gather without leaving their homes via an organized simultaneous tasting on Twitter. Each event typically highlights a different Michigan winery, with the night’s featured wines selected by the winemaker. The latest installment, set for 8 p.m. Oct. 7, will focus on Silver Leaf Winery on the Leelanau Peninsula. Shipping discounts will be offered to Tweet & Taste participants.
